Nobody wants painful experiences. Pain in the body, or any part of the body. A headache makes our existence painful, and we take a painkiller quickly to get rid of the pain. The same is the situation with psychological pain. Being ditched by a girlfriend or boyfriend, insulted at a social gathering, anxious about the future, concerned about self-image, apprehensive about a loss, and so many more things make us quite upset in this world. The more we try to get out of these feelings, the more we get trapped. We find ourselves helpless to get out of the psychological pain.
It's not possible to get out of the psychological pain, unlike the physical pain, because the root of this pain lies somewhere else. We have enjoyed hours and hours of pleasure from the opposite. When we had a good relationship with a boyfriend or girlfriend, we took pleasure in each of those moments, and now our brain is afraid that it will be deprived of that pleasure forever. When people praised us during social gatherings, we took that praise to our hearts, and now when somebody criticised us, we are unable to tolerate it, and that's why we are feeling the pain. When people praised us for being good, we had that smile on our face. Now people say that we are not so good, so we get worried about this evaluation. When the portfolio in our bank was increasing in a bullish market, we were happy. Now, we are sad, as the market is falling.
Every psychological pain is an unavoidable fallout of the euphoria of the "good" times. I really don't know what is so "good" about those "good" times. But somehow, since childhood, we learn to divide the times between "good" and "bad". When we experience "good" times, we dance with joy, and when we experience the opposite, we experience psychological pain. I am not sure whether we can handle the psychological pain during our "bad" times, unless we examine the truth behind the division between "good" and 'bad". That requires a lot of maturity, because once we examine the reality of that division between the 'good" and "bad" created by society, all our motivations tend to evaporate. We had been told since the beginning to accumulate and achieve more and more of the "good". If we accept the truth that the difference between the 'good" and "bad" is quite artificial. we have nowhere to go. We will get perplexed. We will not be able to make decisions.
At the same time, when we connect to the truth, where the artificial division between "good" and "bad" does not exist, the "universal good" becomes our guiding force. What is this universal good? The universal good comes from the ultimate reality. Everything in this world has taken birth from the same consciousness. Just like the Higgs Field, which gives birth to the bosons and fermions. That's why everybody is connected. That's why love is the fundamental truth. We are all connected. When we meet another person, we interact with a realisation that the other person is another form of the same consciousness. That connection at the core helps us connect with everybody. We want to explore so many different creations of the same consciousness. We want to explore nature, the rivers, the mountains, and different creatures. We want to participate in the festival of creation. Thus awareness becomes the sole guide. The artificial difference between the "good" and "bad" disappears, giving space to the truth that everything and everybody shares the same source; then we want to explore and create in this magic land, with love and compassion.
