Each one of us lives in a unique universe that we have created for ourselves. Each one has a very different mindset. The same event is understood by all of us in so many different ways. We all will have different thoughts in our minds when we go to the cremation ground. For some, it is an investment to ensure that when such an incident takes place, others stand with him. For some, it is very uncomfortable to be there in the cremation ground, and they just want to rush back home to get the comfort zone. For some, it is time to mourn the departure of a near and dear one. For some, it is time to reflect on the true nature of life.
It seems strange that all of us are the "sky" and yet we have a great desire to have "Mutthi Bhar Aasman". The all-powerful consciousness builds our bodies. The meeting of one sperm and one ovum can't create this human body. How can the two cells turn into a full-fledged human body, having such complex machinery that even the science of the day has not been able to understand even 1% of it. That means definitely there is some intelligence that acts to make the whole of the human body from those two cells. Leave aside that, it is impossible for the body to live in such a coordinated manner. All the organs of the body coordinate so well. How is that coordination possible without an intelligence. What we consider to be "I' is hardly aware of how the heart keeps pumping to supply blood to all the body parts 24*7, how the lungs keep supplying oxygen to all the body parts round the clock, how our immunity keeps attacking the foreign elements to protect our bodies without us having an iota of awareness of this constant battle.
We are somehow obsessed with that "Mutthi Bhar Aasman". Somebody in our childhood said something in our ears, and we have defined the whole of our existence around that. Somebody was deprived of money in his childhood, and he formed many mental stories about the discomfort due to the lack of money and made earning money the target of his life. Somebody faced a crisis in a relationship and therefore made fulfilling relationships the target of his life. Somebody was insulted by some unkind soul, and he made power the target of his life. Some work hard and achieve whatever they target, while some do not. Sometimes due to a lack of hard work, and sometimes due to the circumstances. Nonetheless, none of them is happy. The achievers realise the futility of the achievements post achievements, and in most cases set new targets just to defer their disappointment to the next achievement. The non-achievers become jealous to see the achievers.
"Mutthi Bhar Aasman" may give us pleasure or may make us feel proud. But all these pleasures are just like the fireworks. We may spend our entire lives arranging resources for the grand show. Fireworks don't last for more than a few minutes. I don't know when we are in the sky, why do we become obsessed with "Mutthi Bhar Aasman"? Some mental story from our childhood. Why don't we examine? Because we have never been taught self-examination. We have never been told to reflect. Reflection on the "Mutthi Bhar Aasman", we desire from the open sky. However, that requires getting out of that "Mutthi Bhar Aasman" we have gathered for ourselves or the dream of that "Mutthi Bhar Aasman". That isn't easy. We feel empty the moment we try to drop what we have, even mentally. That gives us identity. I am a father, a son, a daughter, a wife, a husband, a brother, a sister, a mother, an officer, a doctor, and a CA. I have a reputation and a position. If I drop this, I am zero. We dread becoming zero. That's why we hold on to that "Mutthi Bhar Aasman" more tightly. That's why we are always deprived of the whole of the sky. We need to get out of the comforts of home to travel the world. Life is willing to offer us the whole of the sky, if we gather the courage to drop fixation with "Mutthi Bhar Aasman".
