Sudarshana

Krishna has a unique weapon. The Sudarshana Chakra. Sudarshana means the right vision. Sudarshana is so strong that it can win any battle. Why do we lose a battle? Because we do not have the right vision. We failed in an examination because we lacked a clear understanding of the subject matter. We make so many wrong decisions in our lives because we do not have the right vision. We suffer in relationships because we do not have the vision to see life as a whole, and we look at life from a narrow perspective and suffer. We suffer in business because we do not have the right vision of demand, supply, and factors of production.

When Arjuna is hitting arrows at Bhishma hiding behind Shikhandi, when Yudhistira is giving the news of Ashwathama being killed to Acharya Drona, when Arjuna is hitting arrows at Karna when his chariot is broken, and when Bhima is hitting at the thigh of Duryodhana, which is against the rules, there is no fairness. None of these actions is fair. Then, how are the Pandavas on the side of Dharma? It is because Dharma is the right vision. For the right vision, we have to see it as a whole. It is not fair to take away somebody's freedom. No doubt. But what if he murders another person? Of course, the law of the land allows the courts to punish that person and put him behind bars and take away his freedom. If somebody looks at the present-day condition of the prisoner, he may feel that the treatment is not fair. The right vision is holistic and not piecemeal.

Duryodhana was greedy, and his greed had crossed all limits. He snatched the rights of his brothers by deception. He tried to kill them in Lakshagraha. He snatched their empire by cheating. He insulted Draupadi for no reason. All the people, such as Bhishma, Karna, and Drona, were either silent spectators or participated in the crimes. Now, one fine day, the entire burden of following the rules can't shift to the Pandavas. The terrorists can not cry for fairness when the army launches a counter-attack. Sudarshana is all about the holistic vision. Krishna can see that if the Kauravas win the battle, the lives of everybody on this Earth will become hell. A greedy person can't be the ruler. Kauravas will create so many more chakravhews. They will create so many illusions and deceive people.

Each one of us is fighting the battle of Kurukshetra. If we hold on to Krishna, like Arjuna, we will have "Sudarshana" or the right vision. We often undergo a tussle within us. We pass through conflicts in relationships. Whether we are fair to our partner and whether our partner is fair to us. A partner, who has been selfish throughout, cries with tears when we take a stand in a relationship. We feel that we are not right and allow ourselves to be exploited again. We see the struggle of a caterpillar and try to help the caterpillar become a butterfly, but in the process, it doesn't grow fully and dies. It's a stupid compassion. Fighting the battle of Kurukshetra requires a lot of strength, and it's not for the weak-hearted. Unless we have the right vision and have the strength to fight the battle, there is no point in entering the battlefield of Kurukshetra. The battlefield of Kurukshetra is brutal. We stand naked there, as there is no cloth of pretention or manipulation available to hide our impurities.

It's difficult to have the vision of Krishna. We are so obsessed with a lifetime. We are so obsessed with our self-image of being right. We are so obsessed with the pleasures that we are addicted to. We are so obsessed with our sense of entitlement. Right vision demands looking beyond this "I" and looking at the larger purpose of life. However, for that, we need to develop the capacity to look at ourselves from a witness box. Look at our own life on the projector. Look at our game as a spectator. However, that vision has to be "Sudarshan". Where we are not in any team. The rights and wrongs are not decided by what has been told to us by society since childhood. That requires understanding that all the divisions are just supporting the whole. A cancer cell may presume that its dharma is to grow at the cost of other cells of the body. That's not "Sudarshana". "Sudarshana" means taking the whole of the body together, and that's why the action of the immunity cells to kill cancerous cells is Dharma. Dharma in a relationship can never be to succumb to the selfish demands of a partner. Relationships are meant to provide opportunities to both partners to grow as human beings and have "Sudarshana" and not to provide some pleasure to the partner that is based on their mental story borrowed from society.

But what about the timing of Right Vision. Duryodhan has enjoyed all his life and Pandavas were suffered throughout their life. Likewise Ravan enjoyed his life fully.

Why life is so stressful?

The present-day society is the most comfortable in the entire history of humanity. We have invented machines to carry out work at home, have built highways, can fly conveniently across countries, have comfortable homes, have information of almost every kind at our fingertips, and also have AI to help us make use of the information. Advances in robotics have made many apparently impossible tasks quite easy to perform. Yet, so many countries are at war, people are suffering from psychological disorders, depression, there are broken relationships everywhere, and people are under tremendous stress. What has gone wrong in the process? Why is development not bringing happiness? Because we have chosen "comforts" over "growth". Because we have chosen "fear" over "love". Doesn't that sound strange? Why would somebody choose "fear" over "love"? Probably, we are not aware of it while making these choices. Our unconscious mind process...

A Comfortable Life full of Fears

Why did Buddha reject the offer of a comfortable life as a prince from his father? Why do most people grab such an opportunity? Why do most people struggle all through their lives to get such a comfortable life? It is because most people can't see what Buddha could see. That is exactly why Buddha wanted to tell the secret to the entire world.  Buddha asked questions to his charioteer about disease and death. He could have closed his eyes to the suffering of the people and sat happily inside his palace. But he enquired into the nature of death and diseases, the old age and pains thereof. He asked whether anyone can avoid suffering, and came to know that it is not possible to avoid the sufferings of old age, diseases, and death. He was determined to find a solution and therefore delved deeper and deeper into the nature of suffering and its source. His inner journey revealed the secrets that he shared with the whole world. The real cause of suffering is ignorance.  We form ...

A "home" decorated with "bonsai"

Somebody gifted a plant sometime back. When I look at the plant on the Table, it appears to me as if the plant had the potential to grow into a big tree, but we confined the little plant within the limits of the pot, and it has grown strangely. It has a thick stem but has small leaves and branches. We have designed the plants to look the way we like. What "I" want is more important than what the "plant" is. The plant will grow the way "I" like it to grow. And then, "I" would also claim that "I" love the plant.  Yesterday, I went to a coaching institute to get some test series for a competitive exam for my daughter. The guide there spoke for around 40-45 minutes on the risks and chances of getting selected in different competitive examinations. So much competition. Fear is instilled into the minds of the students from the very beginning. Everything is around fear. If they are not able to get enrolment in a professional course , they wi...
