Hungry for?

It feels so sad to look around people so hungry for credit and positions. They can stoop to any extent to retain their positions. They can lie blatantly and play any sort of politics to take credit. There is hardly any integrity or character. There is no value in their words or commitment. Everything and everybody is just a use case to these fellows. They pretend to be so much in control and yet behave like beggars. Like a dry hot desert, they keep seeking happiness which seldom comes like a drizzle leaving the desert more dry than before.

It is quite difficult to understand why people make not only their lives hell but also impact the people around them quite negatively. It appears that the root cause lies in ignorance. For example, if somebody has been told since childhood that sugar is a healthy food and he eats more and more sugar and suffers from diabetes. However, since he is not aware of diabetes, he keeps eating sugar and suffers from diabetes. Not only does he eat a lot of sugar but also forces his subordinates and family members to eat sugar.

In a society where life has become so easy compared to a few centuries back, we have so many more means of entertainment, we have treatment and vaccines for almost all diseases, we have painkillers that significantly reduce the pain, the departmental stores are flooded of thousands of varieties of foods, we can travel different countries of the world in minimum time, almost every type of entertainment is available at our fingertips, and yet the world is severely deprived of happiness. People are madly hunting for Gurus to become happy. Somehow a false narrative has spread like a fire in the forest that money and power make us happy.

Unfortunately, it is such a mirage that the more you follow it the more real it appears. Everybody feels that if he runs for a few more years, he will be happy. Parents keep running after the mirage for the whole of their life and by the time they reach their 40s, they feel that they have not been fulfilling their dreams and they want to fulfill their unfulfilled dreams through their kids. Kids become tools. They want to fulfill their dreams through their organizations and organizations become tools to fulfill their dreams. Slowly relatives and friends also become just tools to fulfil the dreams of people. They do not realize that in the process they not only become a hot dry desert craving for a few drops of happiness but also turn their kids into "eternal seekers" who never contended with what they have.

In the name of efficiency and targets, people are deprived of life. The "achievers" do not live their lives peacefully and make the lives of everybody around them hell. They try to hide their restlessness and frustration below the carpet of "achievements" knowing very well that all these achievements have just added to their miseries. I wish more and more people see the futility of this shallowness at an early stage of their lives rather than suffering throughout life and then dying with regrets. However, the nearest of the objects are invisible in foggy weather. Even the strongest of the headlines fail when fog is dense. I wish there were some shower of divine love that fills the hearts of these restless hungry souls with love so that they may love themselves and love others rather than running after the mirage and passing a dictate on everybody to run after that. I wish they realized that seeking brings suffering and love brings happiness. We do not need any money or power to love. We just need that inner connection.

Why life is so stressful?

The present-day society is the most comfortable in the entire history of humanity. We have invented machines to carry out work at home, have built highways, can fly conveniently across countries, have comfortable homes, have information of almost every kind at our fingertips, and also have AI to help us make use of the information. Advances in robotics have made many apparently impossible tasks quite easy to perform. Yet, so many countries are at war, people are suffering from psychological disorders, depression, there are broken relationships everywhere, and people are under tremendous stress. What has gone wrong in the process? Why is development not bringing happiness? Because we have chosen "comforts" over "growth". Because we have chosen "fear" over "love". Doesn't that sound strange? Why would somebody choose "fear" over "love"? Probably, we are not aware of it while making these choices. Our unconscious mind process...

A Comfortable Life full of Fears

Why did Buddha reject the offer of a comfortable life as a prince from his father? Why do most people grab such an opportunity? Why do most people struggle all through their lives to get such a comfortable life? It is because most people can't see what Buddha could see. That is exactly why Buddha wanted to tell the secret to the entire world.  Buddha asked questions to his charioteer about disease and death. He could have closed his eyes to the suffering of the people and sat happily inside his palace. But he enquired into the nature of death and diseases, the old age and pains thereof. He asked whether anyone can avoid suffering, and came to know that it is not possible to avoid the sufferings of old age, diseases, and death. He was determined to find a solution and therefore delved deeper and deeper into the nature of suffering and its source. His inner journey revealed the secrets that he shared with the whole world. The real cause of suffering is ignorance.  We form ...

A "home" decorated with "bonsai"

Somebody gifted a plant sometime back. When I look at the plant on the Table, it appears to me as if the plant had the potential to grow into a big tree, but we confined the little plant within the limits of the pot, and it has grown strangely. It has a thick stem but has small leaves and branches. We have designed the plants to look the way we like. What "I" want is more important than what the "plant" is. The plant will grow the way "I" like it to grow. And then, "I" would also claim that "I" love the plant.  Yesterday, I went to a coaching institute to get some test series for a competitive exam for my daughter. The guide there spoke for around 40-45 minutes on the risks and chances of getting selected in different competitive examinations. So much competition. Fear is instilled into the minds of the students from the very beginning. Everything is around fear. If they are not able to get enrolment in a professional course , they wi...
