Our mind remains occupied with so many things during the whole of the day. The matters related to kids, what career they are going to choose, their studies, their PTMs, the issues related to their health, our own health, fitness, the pending works at the office, the politics of office, the issues related to different subordinates, the temperament the bosses, liaisoning, neighbors, relatives, the past and the future. Mind is never still. Right from the time we get up from bed till the time we sleep, the mind is constantly on one or the other thing. It keeps thinking about the past and keeps making plans for the future. In the process, we keep missing the present moment, failing to realize that the present moment is the only moment where something can be done.
There are infinite possibilities that exist in each and every moment. However, we remain imprisoned in our past and imagination of the future. We know so limited and yet remain so convinced about whatever we know. We hardly know what is happening inside our body. So much so that diseases like cancer keep growing inside our bodies and we remain quite unaware until they manifest in the most dangerous forms. So many things keep happening on the Earth, and in the universe and we are happily unaware of all those things. We are hardly aware of even a trillionth of information as to what is going around us and yet we remain so sure of ourselves, our viewpoints, perspectives, intelligence, and way of life.
So what do we have to do with the reality? We have to live our lives and awareness of what is happening on the surface of the sun, the solar flares, the changes in the environment, the decay of the ozone layer, the fast-approaching asteroids, the possibility of life on another planet in the solar system, the visit to moon and mars, the possibility of another Earth-like planet, a parallel universe, and black holes, none of them makes any difference to our lives. After all, we have to attend to the office and cater to the needs of our kids. Awareness of all these things means nothing more to us except some mental stimulation. These things are just like a science fiction movie that stimulates us for a few hours and nothing more than that.
Sometimes, I look at the insects like flies that get stuck inside a room and keep hitting the glasses in an effort to move out of the room. They do not realize that there is a big door open and they can easily move out of the room using that door. Are we also like those flies in our worlds trying to find solutions to our problems ignoring the open door? If we are not aware of the open door and keep trying the whole of our lives to pass through that window glass, we may feel that we have made great efforts, but any person who is aware of the reality will understand how we wasted our lives stupidly.
Are we busy with the routine like a fly hitting the window glass trying to get out of the room? There are some at least who could see that open door. Sri Aurobindo realized the importance of open doors and tried to help everybody see those doors by writing about his experiences in his classics, such as Savitri and Life Divine. Ramakrishna Paramhansa, Ramana Maharishi, Buddha, S N Goenka and so many other realized souls who could see that open door tried to make us aware of that open door. However, out of our stubbornness, we keep hitting the window glass and claiming that we are making a lot of effort. Some go one step further and decide to relax and chill inside the room, by having parties and fun, just waiting for their death. Like a fly caught in a glass of liquor and thinking that if it has to die then let's enjoy the liquor at least😂. Probably humanity has evolved from the animal world to the present-day human civilization which has learned the division of functions and cooperation. However, there is a lot of distance to be covered and the realized souls in the past and present keep showing us the way to evolve but we reject the same being busy either drinking the wine waiting to drown in the glass of wine, or constantly hitting at the window glass.
