Violence and Love

The present-day world is so much full of violence and almost empty of love and compassion. We are grossly disconnected from our inner self and therefore we are so discontented that somehow we are running from pillar to post to get a small drop of pleasure. We seek pleasure in different things and the world is ready to sell its products that offer us fun, entertainment, comfort, and luxury. We are so discontented and hungry for pleasure that we buy these products without verification of the facts. In this hurriedness to buy these products, we are ready to pay the price which is quite disproportionate to the quality of the products. However, due to extreme hunger, we are so desperate to buy these products that we are not able to see the price we pay for these products.

The heavy price has to be paid in terms of time. We have to either pay money to buy these products or use power to get them for free. In either case, we need to invest a lot of time and energy to get the money or power. We fail to realize that time is life. Effectively, we are investing our lives to earn money and power. That means we are spending our lives to buy the pleasures. We do not somehow observe the conspiracy whereby the big companies are taking away our lives to give us little money in exchange. We buy little pleasure over the weekends with that money. In a way, we give 5 days of life in exchange for a few hours of life over the weekend.

The worst part of the deal is that the entire society conspires to make us realize that this is the only way. There is no way to connect to our inner being and be happy naturally. Pleasure is propagated as the aim of life. We do not dare to examine the truth and seek more and more pleasure in different forms, that require more and more money and power. Our greed does not stop there. We want more of everything. We want to possess even the people. We want people to satisfy our emotional needs. Our kids, parents, spouses, friends, and relatives become the tools to please us. We become more and more greedy in the process. Due to the inner disconnection none of these possessions is going to make us happy, as we accumulate more things, we feel more and more insecure and due to the false understanding of life, we feel that we need more to be happy.

As we become greedy, we slowly start becoming violent. We get so disconnected from others that we undertake violence in different forms. In a sibling relationship, we want to have more attention from the parents, and more resources at our disposal and that is the reason why we start complaining about our siblings, bullying and fighting against them, and at times cheating them, all different forms of violations. Parents become so frustrated due to their own wrong choices in life that they try to live their dreams through their kids and undertake violence to kill the childhood of their kids. They kill the dreams of their kids and brainwash them to fulfill their dreams.

In societies, many people want to become powerful to corner the resources of society. In order to achieve their targets, they become violent and keep hurting others in different forms. Similar violation exists within and outside the organizations. Within the organizations, there is violence among the employees. Bosses are ready to eat their subordinates away. There is quite unfair competition among the employees. Organizations are fighting among themselves. The bigger fish is eager to eat away the smaller ones. The same equation works among the countries. The bigger and more powerful ones are ready to destroy and capture the smaller ones.

This violence in society will never go away unless we learn to love. Love is not possible unless we connect to our inner being. Whatever we are seeking outside actually exists inside us. All the joy and bliss is inside us. We can keep running away from that our entire life in the search of fun and pleasure but we are never going to get the same. In fact, the more we run after the external pleasure and fun the more we will be deprived of joy and bliss. It is because we get trapped in the falsity and our brain starts believing more and more the falsity. The falsity that fun, entertainment, and pleasure give us joy. The more we believe in this falsity the farther we are from the truth. Out of greed for fun, entertainment, and pleasures, we get more and more fixated on money and power. We give away most of our precious time and energy to earn money and power, and in the process become more and more greedy to the extent of becoming violent in many different forms.

Sometimes we feel that the fun and pleasure are emotional. We seek pleasure in different relations and friendships. We start becoming more and more fixated on our relations and as we become fixated, we start becoming anxious and fearful of losing them. As and when a situation arises where a relationship is broken, we become quite sad. We become greedy in relationships and that is why we become violent. We become jealous as and when we see our friend being engaged with someone else. Sometimes jealousy goes to the extent of taking revenge.

Probably there is no hope for society unless we learn to love ourselves. Unless we reestablish that inner connection, we are not going to ever feel what love actually means. Unless we know what love is we will keep running after the mirage and keep getting disappointed and again keep running harder. That frustration and discontentment will always bring greed. Greed for the products and feelings sold by the great salesmen of the world. We just need a little awareness to see what this propaganda and advertisements are doing to our lives. Little awareness can save lives from violence and make human life beautiful. Therefore, I firmly believe that humanity should invest in wisdom rather than knowledge and information. We already have enough information and knowledge and with little wisdom, we have already made it a trophy and fighting with each other to prove our intelligence. That has become another tool for violence. We need wisdom to understand that we know too little and love to connect to the divine which is omniscient.

Why life is so stressful?

The present-day society is the most comfortable in the entire history of humanity. We have invented machines to carry out work at home, have built highways, can fly conveniently across countries, have comfortable homes, have information of almost every kind at our fingertips, and also have AI to help us make use of the information. Advances in robotics have made many apparently impossible tasks quite easy to perform. Yet, so many countries are at war, people are suffering from psychological disorders, depression, there are broken relationships everywhere, and people are under tremendous stress. What has gone wrong in the process? Why is development not bringing happiness? Because we have chosen "comforts" over "growth". Because we have chosen "fear" over "love". Doesn't that sound strange? Why would somebody choose "fear" over "love"? Probably, we are not aware of it while making these choices. Our unconscious mind process...

A Comfortable Life full of Fears

Why did Buddha reject the offer of a comfortable life as a prince from his father? Why do most people grab such an opportunity? Why do most people struggle all through their lives to get such a comfortable life? It is because most people can't see what Buddha could see. That is exactly why Buddha wanted to tell the secret to the entire world.  Buddha asked questions to his charioteer about disease and death. He could have closed his eyes to the suffering of the people and sat happily inside his palace. But he enquired into the nature of death and diseases, the old age and pains thereof. He asked whether anyone can avoid suffering, and came to know that it is not possible to avoid the sufferings of old age, diseases, and death. He was determined to find a solution and therefore delved deeper and deeper into the nature of suffering and its source. His inner journey revealed the secrets that he shared with the whole world. The real cause of suffering is ignorance.  We form ...

A "home" decorated with "bonsai"

Somebody gifted a plant sometime back. When I look at the plant on the Table, it appears to me as if the plant had the potential to grow into a big tree, but we confined the little plant within the limits of the pot, and it has grown strangely. It has a thick stem but has small leaves and branches. We have designed the plants to look the way we like. What "I" want is more important than what the "plant" is. The plant will grow the way "I" like it to grow. And then, "I" would also claim that "I" love the plant.  Yesterday, I went to a coaching institute to get some test series for a competitive exam for my daughter. The guide there spoke for around 40-45 minutes on the risks and chances of getting selected in different competitive examinations. So much competition. Fear is instilled into the minds of the students from the very beginning. Everything is around fear. If they are not able to get enrolment in a professional course , they wi...
