Handle with love

Often we see language in airlines with the tag "handle with care". That indicates that the language is fragile and the handlers need to keep the language with care and without jerks so that the valuable inside is not broken. We too handle a very sensitive soul inside which needs to be handled with love. Not only do we need to handle ourselves with love but all the people we deal with.

Probably three types of communication take place among people. The first one is "mind-to-mind communication". This is the normal communication that takes place among the human beings. When two human beings communicate with each other, both of them identify themselves with their mind and the content thereof. The content is our experiences and understanding of those experiences. We all identify with our name, family, community, qualifications, experiences, and organization. When two or more human beings communicate "mind to mind" they center themselves around their own experiences. Speaking is definitely restricted to such experiences and listening too is by and large filtered by such experiences. That's why such communications are generally quite narrow. When there are many involved in such communications, the width and depth of the discussion are set at the lowest of the understanding. That's what we generally see in the social functions and meetings of colleagues.

However, the "mind-to-mind" discussions may also be rich if all the people involved in the interaction are evolved and have wide experiences. That's what happens when there are discussions among the intelligentsia. However, since there is always one or more people, forming part of the discussion group, having a very shallow and narrow understanding of life that sets the tone of the discussion. Probably, the shallower the understanding of life the greater the conviction one has about his own understanding of life. There is a saying in India that "Adjal Gagri Chalkat Jaye". That means more water comes out of the pot having less water while travelling.

The second type of communication taking place between people is "soul-to-mind". It takes place when one understands the relativity and temporariness of the mind and its content while the other is still stuck with the mind and its contents. Such communications are a pain to watch. The mind makes all the efforts to convince the soul about his ideas and opinions almost declaring the other one to be stupid. The soul has no option but to stay silent because it understands and that understanding gives it wisdom to keep silent.

The third type of communication is "soul-to-soul" communication. That's fun to watch. When two or more communicate with each other, there is no my or your view. Every idea, thought and view belongs to everybody else. All souls share the same source and that is why there is an understanding that the ideas, opinions, and thoughts do not belong to one mind. All the minds are just receivers receiving ideas from the same source. Different receivers tune into different radio stations. In such communications, all the ideas and opinions are put together without identification with any of those. That makes the discussions beautiful. Dissection and analysis of each and every idea and opinion, without any association. The soul-to-soul connection makes such communications and discussions extremely beautiful.

Fortunately, I have been part of many such "soul-to-soul" discussions and when one witnesses these discussions, one realizes the futility and limitations of the other two types of discussions. I somehow don't know why many of us leave such a beautiful thing in life to run after the targets set by the limited mind and its content making the whole of our life so limited and barren. So long we identify with the mind and its contents, we will always be filled with fear, desire for pleasure, and ambitions without realizing how painful all three make our lives. Handling life with love seems to be the only way out. We need to handle not only ourselves but also others with love. Handling life with love is impossible without a soul-to-soul connection. Mind can take us maximum to sympathy which is such a poor substitute of love.

Why life is so stressful?

The present-day society is the most comfortable in the entire history of humanity. We have invented machines to carry out work at home, have built highways, can fly conveniently across countries, have comfortable homes, have information of almost every kind at our fingertips, and also have AI to help us make use of the information. Advances in robotics have made many apparently impossible tasks quite easy to perform. Yet, so many countries are at war, people are suffering from psychological disorders, depression, there are broken relationships everywhere, and people are under tremendous stress. What has gone wrong in the process? Why is development not bringing happiness? Because we have chosen "comforts" over "growth". Because we have chosen "fear" over "love". Doesn't that sound strange? Why would somebody choose "fear" over "love"? Probably, we are not aware of it while making these choices. Our unconscious mind process...

Adding a Third Dimension to Life

We face various conflicts in our lives. Whether to play with friends or concentrate on studies is one of the most common conflicts of the students which has now been replaced with a conflict between the concentration on studies and spending time on social media and mobile. Adults often have trouble establishing a work-life balance. These conflicts are the reflection of the ongoing struggle between comforts and ambitions. We get some comfort due to the stars in our horoscope, we are born with, or our past efforts. Some choose to enjoy these comforts and pleasures while some delay gratification, constantly move along the X-axis, and have a very linear view of life. Others choose to work hard for their ambitions and give away the pleasures and comforts, move along the Y-axis, and have a "two-dimensional view of life". They grow in worldly terms and that is the reason why they occupy the best of positions, become industrialists and intellectuals, and develop the capacity to look...

A Comfortable Life full of Fears

Why did Buddha reject the offer of a comfortable life as a prince from his father? Why do most people grab such an opportunity? Why do most people struggle all through their lives to get such a comfortable life? It is because most people can't see what Buddha could see. That is exactly why Buddha wanted to tell the secret to the entire world.  Buddha asked questions to his charioteer about disease and death. He could have closed his eyes to the suffering of the people and sat happily inside his palace. But he enquired into the nature of death and diseases, the old age and pains thereof. He asked whether anyone can avoid suffering, and came to know that it is not possible to avoid the sufferings of old age, diseases, and death. He was determined to find a solution and therefore delved deeper and deeper into the nature of suffering and its source. His inner journey revealed the secrets that he shared with the whole world. The real cause of suffering is ignorance.  We form ...
