The Appearances and the Hidden Truth Beneath

What appears on the surface may have deep hidden truth. A disconnected "being" feels quite fearful and insecure. When an insecure being tries to gather security, through worldly means, he starts becoming more and more insecure.

The discontented "being" tries to get that contentment by earning more and more money. The more money he earns, the more discontented he becomes. On the surface, he appears to be wealthy, yet deep down he continues to become poorer. Somehow his mind is trapped in the loop and he is not able to see the reality inside. The disconnected "being" further tries to overcome the fear by getting power and positions. The more power, from VIP to VVIP to MIP treatment, there is more fear of losing that power. Some people try to gather and demonstrate similar power within their own families and organizations by dominating the people around them with physical or verbal aggression, being just an appearance on the surface with deep insecurity within.

Similarly, the ones who apparently accept domination also have hidden reality deep inside them. Some of such beings have greed beneath. Few people in British-ruled India, who sided with the rulers and acted against their country, preferred greed to the freedom of their country. Some such beings have ambitions deep down. They feel that by sycophancy, they will be able to please the mighty and get good positions. Some have multiple fears and try to overcome one fear by accepting the domination. For example, fear of being homeless to accept the dominance of a spouse, and fear of hunger to accept the dominance of a manager in an orphanage.

The world is full of problems, with hardly any solutions, because we hardly examine the hidden truth beneath. We keep handling the problems at their surface. As if we are just trying to run away from the real problem. The real problem appears to be the deep-lying fear and insecurity. We do not examine the nature of this fear and insecurity and jump to the solutions. Like a doctor jumping to prescribe medicines to a patient without proper examination. The consequences of such a hurry are not a matter of guess. The funniest and the saddest part is that we have seen such consequences all our life and yet we do not want to change the way we look at life.

If we examine that fear and insecurity, we will soon realize that like a lost baby, we are just looking for the mother. This world tries to make the baby happy by tempting him with different things. It offers baby food and toys of different kinds. The baby feels that this will make him happy. He understands that all these things are available in this world for money and he blindly starts running after the money. In the process, he realizes that fears and insecurities are increasing as he is earning more and more money. He needs some people to share his fears and insecurities and he forms friendship. Two insecure people try to share insecurities with each other and try to make each other secure. In the end, the baby becomes insecure about the friendship itself.

The baby marries and gets kids with the hope of getting that security from a relationship, that has great value in the eyes of society to realize soon that the other person is also equally insecure and the kids soon fly away to fulfill their dreams to become secure. The baby feels that he will get that "missing love" by ruling the world. He aims for better positions and more power. More and more people bow down before him. They come to him to seek favors. The baby soon realizes that all that the power means is either to play into the hands of the more powerful or to play to the gallery and nothing beyond that.

By this time, the baby gets old and the time to leave this world is quite near. He is still yearning for that love. "Love" that can not be there in fear and insecurity. "Love" is always there and yet not available because we never wanted the same. Somehow, we mistook material possessions, insecure relationships, and power and positions for "love" and wasted our lives chasing a mirage.

Probably it needs just an honest observation of the appearances to know the hidden truth beneath. The moment, we get to know the hidden truth, we will no longer be deceived by appearances to waste our lives. The Divine is always ready to connect to us with "infinite love", it is we who are running away from Him the whole of our life. However, as the age grows, this honest examination becomes more and more difficult. More so because the longer we live such a life of deception the more difficult it is to accept that we have wasted such precious time out of stupidity. In order to prove ourselves to be intelligent, we ruin our lives in greater stupidity.

Weak Minds

I don't know what Rama would have felt like when he developed Vairagya looking around at the temporariness of life, and all the material objects. He had the blessed company of saints like Vashistha and Vishvamitra who could answer hundreds of his questions with example and their experiences. King Dashratha was spiritually mature and therefore rather than snubbing the Vairagya of Rama, he could request Vashistha and Vishvamitra to answer the questions asked by Rama. When Siddhartha had similar questions in his mind, he had nobody to answer and his father, in fact, tried to keep him away from the questions about life. That is the strategy of probably the entire society today. If you can not answer the question, prove the question itself to be wrong.  That is what happens to anybody having these questions about the purpose of life. The first response he gets from society is that all these questions are a waste of time. In the entire history of humanity, we have not been able to ...

Choice of Happiness

I often wonder as to what is the meaning of equality? Some are born into families that can spend thousands of crore rupees to make their kids happy, and many can not buy enough food for their kids and their kids sleep hungry stomach and still remain happy and grateful. Some travel by private jet while many have to travel in the locals like cattle. Some own many buildings worth thousands of crores while many sleep on the streets. If somebody knows how to manipulate the systems, the sky is the limit in this world. However, all these hold true, if we believe that happiness is a by-product of money. In fact, I see that the reality is quite the contrary. First of all, life is much more than money. There are 12 houses in Astrology representing 12 different dimensions of life. The first house represents health, the second wealth, the third initiatives and younger siblings, the fourth vehicles, properties, and everything that comes as a result of our initiatives, the fifth new direction, and k...

Use of AI to understand the purpose of Life

I was listening to an interesting debate on the following YouTube link that ignited a series of thoughts in my mind: https://youtu.be/o2aAx3wk6dg?si=qLSwKnR0Cp4TyLPC It is interesting to imagine a world where we can get almost everything done with just a command right from driving a car to flying a plane, doing the homework to making presentations for the meeting, taking care of the plants to taking care of the parents, getting the food cooked to get the surgeries done.  After listening to the discussions, I was quite amazed at the idea of delegating the decision-making to the AI and investing our time in exploration. Decisions about whatever is in the domain of known may be taken by the AI in the future and human beings may be busy exploring new possibilities.  However, how will AI make the decisions? Suppose, during the Ramayana times, AI was fully developed. How Kaikeyi would have taken the decision? I believe for AI or anybody to make a decision, the desired goal has to be...
