The Diagnostic Kit for the Unconscious

Taking a cup of tea with milk and sugar in the morning, eating Aloo Paranthas, fried food, street food, and chat papri tastes excellent. However, inside the body, the inner organs such as the liver, intestine, and pancreas need to work hard to digest the food. However, the inner organs tolerate the violence for a significant period until they get tired, and once they get tired, we get symptoms in the form of different diagnoses, such as fatty liver and blockage of the veins and arteries. We are so obsessed with the outer organs that we ignore the inner organs completely. Or, in other words, we are hardly aware of our inner organs. It is only through diagnostic tests that we get to know our inner reality.

Similarly, in the domain of mind, we are obsessed with the conscious brain. As we keep eating food that tastes good to our tongue, we keep ourselves busy with the discussions and thoughts that make our conscious mind feel good. We attend social functions and meetings where everybody is just trying to demonstrate their possessions. Everybody will wear the best of the dresses and the gold and diamond ornaments. Everybody would be keen to talk to people considered to be powerful by society. Every person will be judged by the "tag" he carries, and for "others", he is nothing beyond that "tag". People try to plant the best of their "image" so that "others" take them seriously and give more attention. In office situations, also, everybody is just a "designation". The people in the organisation occupying higher positions would have the authority to decide, irrespective of their "stupidity" and "lack of exposure to the subject matter". We hardly get to observe the impact of these behaviour patterns on our unconscious mind.

We fail to observe that every time we are trying to project our best "self" in these social gatherings, our unconscious mind is full of the feeling "I am not good enough" and that's why "I have to do something to project myself better than what I am". The more we try to project ourselves as powerful, the more the unconscious mind becomes sure of our weakness. The more we try to project our affluence, the more our unconscious mind becomes sure of inner poverty. The more we try to project our authority, the more the unconscious mind feels weak and fragile. Unfortunately, we never get to observe what happens inside our unconscious mind. There are no diagnostic kits available in the market that can tell us what is going on inside our unconscious mind. People do not notice when these insecurities of the unconscious mind make their conscious mind hallucinate about reality, and when they start visualising "God" in different forms due to restlessness to become secure again. People fail to realize that most of the concepts around God exist in the domain of hallucination, and over time, these "concepts" become more dear to us rather than the search for reality.

Fortunately, there is a test available for the unconscious mind too in the form of "observation". There is no doubt that it is quite difficult to enter "Lanka". We need to recall the power of concentration we have within us. We have forgotten the immense powers available within us, just like Hanuman forgot the same and recalled when Jamvanta made him recall. We have to just concentrate on the breath. We can be either aware of the "breath" or "thoughts" at a time. We can not maintain awareness of both. That is why when we concentrate on "breath", the thoughts disappear. When we inhale, we connect to the expansion of the cosmos, and when we exhale, we connect to the quantum world. Like Hanumana, we can expand and contract our awareness. We would get to notice different sensations on different parts of our body. We will get to realize their nature. They are all changing very fast. Even the most stable sensations disappear in time. There is only one "reality" that whatever we see and experience is temporary. That is why when we connect to the reality of the "inner world", we realize that all the "concepts around God" are just creations of the mind. That is why when Ramakrishna Paramhansa went deeper into the domain of reality, he dropped his fixation with "Kali".

We can be aware of the inner world. However, we are so fixated on our "comfort zone" that we hardly observe the "inner world. " This is why we continue eating fast food that appears"tasty" to our tongues, while our internal organs suffer and, eventually, may collapse. Similarly, we pursue the pleasures and comforts that feel good to our conscious minds. We fail to notice that the more possessions, power, and concepts we accumulate in our conscious minds, the more fearful and insecure our inner beings feel. I hope that at some point in our lives, we all engage in an " inner diagnosis " to understand the impact of these accumulations and fixations on us. Why are we so restless to become rich and powerful? Why are we in such a hurry to find "meaning" in life, leading us to hallucinate and become prisoners of our own "hallucinations"? Why can't we accept the reality that the entire universe is expanding, and that reality is ever-changing? For example, I am not defined by my actions and thought processes. "I" am free to do whatever I like the moment "I" realize who "I" am. Similarly, "Consciousness" is not limited to what it has manifested so far. It transcends all its manifestations, and in the very next moment, it may express itself in an entirely different form. It is the insecure unconscious mind that tries to assign different meanings to "I" and " consciousness. " When we truly observe reality, our restlessness, as well as our "seeking" and "becoming," diminishes, allowing us to exist in a "state of being. "

A "home" decorated with "bonsai"

Somebody gifted a plant sometime back. When I look at the plant on the Table, it appears to me as if the plant had the potential to grow into a big tree, but we confined the little plant within the limits of the pot, and it has grown strangely. It has a thick stem but has small leaves and branches. We have designed the plants to look the way we like. What "I" want is more important than what the "plant" is. The plant will grow the way "I" like it to grow. And then, "I" would also claim that "I" love the plant.  Yesterday, I went to a coaching institute to get some test series for a competitive exam for my daughter. The guide there spoke for around 40-45 minutes on the risks and chances of getting selected in different competitive examinations. So much competition. Fear is instilled into the minds of the students from the very beginning. Everything is around fear. If they are not able to get enrolment in a professional course , they wi...

Kurukshetra Within Ourselves

I watched the Netflix series Kurukshetra today. It's a wonderfully made series and, in fact, made me recall my childhood series of the Mahabharata that used to be telecast on DD. Mahabharata is magical. The most magical thing about the Mahabharata is that it has no straitjacket definition of Dharma . The entire battle of Kurukshetra is for Dharma, and everybody feels that he is fighting the battle for Dharma.  When Bhishma realises that Vichitravirya needs to be married, he goes to the Swamvara of Amba, Ambika, and Ambalika and forcefully brings them to Hastinapur . Ambika and Ambalika are married to Vichitravirya, while Amba carries out penance to take revenge on Bhishma. Why did Bhishma bring these three girls against their wishes to Hastinapur? If Vichitravirya wanted to marry, he should have shown courage and participated in the Swamvara. After all, Swamvara meant that the girls wanted to marry the most courageous person. Bhishma deprived them of their rights for his attac...

Is Life all about conforming to the standards?

All of us participate in many meaningless events. Sometimes such meaningless events are organised in the offices, and sometimes in society. We understand that it is a sheer wastage of time and an ugly demonstration of our own lack of character and integrity, and yet we participate in these events. Why? Because we lack the courage and conviction to stand. Why don't we have the courage to stand? Because we are full of fears. Some people are so consumed by fear that they participate in and even glorify these meaningless events. Some will participate and justify them. Some will criticise them and yet participate.  I have seen so many people murmuring that they do not wish to attend the marriage functions , but they have to. It is because they also wish for the presence of a crowd when their kids get married. They consider it to be prestigious. What is prestige? Is it about the numbers attending the party thrown by us? No. If so, let us organise a Bhandara , and there will be thousands ...
