We often seek instant solutions. In this age of Zomato and Blinkit, Facebook and WhatsApp, UPIs, and Net Banking, everything has become quite instant. We do not have the patience to wait for the delivery of the goods we ordered. Gone are the days when one had to stand in queues to pay the electricity bills and not the bills that could be paid with just a click of a button. Suppose we want information on anything in this world, the same is available in a customized form as presented by Google AI.
Probably, we have got so used to these quick solutions that we want the solutions in the spiritual world too instantly. That is why the entire business of Babas and spiritual products is at its peak. So many products are being sold in the name of spirituality. YouTube is full of devotional music. The market is full of different types of idols of God. There are so many Babas in the market and some of the parents have gripped the pulse of the market and have branded their young kids as babas who have millions of followers. Different self-proclaimed babas are offering innovative solutions some in the form of black magic and some nice talks. They tell people "Maya Mahathagini Ham Jaani" and are ready to be cheated by the same Maya by traveling in luxury cars and private jets. This market is quite vibrant.
It seems that we are just seeking instant solutions in the spiritual world too. We fail to realize that spirituality is all about the inner connection. The inner connection does not need any effort. A baby is born with that inner connection and that's a default mode unless we disturb that. We just need to identify the elements that take us away from that inner connection and drop them.
A baby of a few months is so assured in the arms of his parents. However, as the baby grows, the insecurities of society start sinking into his psyche. The notion of "I" starts becoming stronger and stronger and the stronger the "I" and the thicker the wall separating this "I" from "others". "I" first seek the material objects, power, emotional support, and sharing in the material world. It fails to realize that the root cause of the unhappiness lies in the sense of separation. As it accumulates material objects and an emotional support system, the sense of "I" grows stronger and so grows stronger the sense of dissatisfaction and inner restlessness. As Gabor Mate says when somebody experiences trauma, work becomes an escape mechanism. We want to work harder and harder so that the painful memories of trauma do not trouble us. Similarly, the obsession with material objects and play of emotions becomes our escape mechanism so that the inner separation does not trouble us.
Can we just drop the seeking? Why do we need to seek something that is so integral to us? We are already home if we just drop our fixation with the world. How can somebody who is himself seeking pleasure in big vehicles and making properties in the name of spirituality offer us peace? However, it seems quite an impossibility to appreciate how like looks like without the frames. We are so caught in the frames of divisions that it is almost impossible to visualize life without these frames. We are not ready for that and seek security inside these fragile frames. The moment a frame is broken, we become desperate to repair the same rather than explore the possibility of framelessness. Another seeking waits desperately, the moment one seeking drops, and the worst part is that spirituality also becomes a seeking of the "Ego" as if the Earth wants to gulp the entire universe.
